O ct 2 00 1 Cosmological Evolution with Λ - Term and Any Linear Equation of State
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent observational indications of an accelerating universe enhance the interest in studying models with a cosmological constant. We investigate cosmological expansion (FRW metric) with Λ > 0 for a general linear equation of state p = wρ, w > −1, so that the interplay between cosmological vacuum and quintessence is allowed, as well. Four closed-form solutions (flat universe with any w, and w = 1/3, −1/3, −2/3) are given, of which the last one appears to be new. For the open universe a simple relation between solutions with different parameters is established: it turns out that a solution with some w and (properly scaled) Λ is expressed algebraically via another solution with special different values of these parameters. The expansion becomes exponential at large times, and the amplitude at the exponent depends on the parameters. We study this dependence in detail, deriving various representations for the amplitude in terms of integrals and series. The closedform solutions serve as benchmarks, and the solution transformation property noted above serves as a useful tool. Among the results obtained, one is that for the open universe with relatively small cosmological constant the amplitude is independent of the equation of state. Also, estimates of the cosmic age through the observable ratio ΩΛ/ΩM and parameter w are given; when inverted, they provide an estimate of w, i. e., the state equation, through the known age of the universe. متن کاملScenario of inflationary cosmology from the phenomenological Λ models
Choosing the three phenomenological models of the dynamical cosmological term Λ, viz., Λ ∼ (ȧ/a), Λ ∼ ä/a and Λ ∼ ρ where a is the cosmic scale factor, it has been shown by the method of numerical analysis for the considered non-linear differential equations that the three models are equivalent for the flat Universe k = 0 and for arbitrary non-linear equation of state. The evolution plots for d...

I set out the 2PI formalism for quantum fields in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker Universe. I show how one can solve self-consistently for the quantum field evolution and the evolution of the cosmological scale factor, using a renormalised semi-classical Friedmann equation. In a 2PI coupling expansion truncated at O(λ), I perform sample calculations demonstrating kinetic and chemical equilibration...

Precision cosmological data hint that a dark energy with equation of state w = P/ρ < −1 and hence dubious stability is viable. Here we discuss for any w nucleation from Λ > 0 to Λ = 0 in a first-order phase transition. The critical radius is argued to be at least of galactic size and the corresponding nucleation rate glacial, thus underwriting the dark energy’s stability and rendering remote an...
متن کاملO ct 2 00 6 The nature of Λ and the mass of the graviton : A critical view
The existence of a non-zero cosmological constant Λ gives rise to controversial interpretations. Is Λ a universal constant fixing the geometry of an empty universe, as fundamental as the Planck constant or the speed of light in the vacuum? Its natural place is then on the left-hand side of the Einstein equation. Is it instead something emerging from a perturbative calculus performed on the metr...
